What we treat

What a mental health visit includes.

Anxiety

Persistent worry, panic and the physical symptoms that come with them. Screening, treatment options and follow-up in one place.

Depression

Low mood, loss of interest, fatigue and changes in sleep or appetite evaluated with validated screening tools and treated with a plan you help build.

Insomnia

Trouble falling or staying asleep, looked at alongside the habits, medications and conditions that drive it.

Medication management

Starting, adjusting or stopping medication with close follow-up in the first weeks, when side effects and benefits are being sorted out.

Therapy referrals

When talk therapy is the right addition, we refer to therapists who take your insurance and coordinate care.

Ongoing check-ins

Follow-ups by video make it easy to stay on track without rearranging your week.

Sugar Land and Fort Bend County

This visit in Sugar Land

Mental health visits at the Sugar Land office give you 30 minutes to talk through anxiety, depression or sleep and to build a plan. Many Fort Bend County patients start in person and move follow-ups and medication check-ins to video, which makes them easier to keep. Therapy referrals go to providers who accept your insurance.

Cypress and Northwest Houston

This visit in Cypress

The Cypress office on US-290 sees patients for anxiety, depression and insomnia. A first visit covers screening, history and a written plan. Some medications require an in-person evaluation under Texas and federal rules, and Dorothy will say so up front. After that, follow-ups can be by video from anywhere in Texas.

Medication

Prescriptions, handled carefully.

Antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications and sleep aids are prescribed when the evaluation supports them, with clear guidance on what to expect in the first weeks and a follow-up scheduled before you leave.

Controlled substances are prescribed only when clinically appropriate and in line with Texas and federal rules. Some situations require an in-person evaluation, and Dorothy will tell you up front if that applies to you.

Questions

Questions about mental health visits.

Can a primary care provider treat anxiety and depression?

Yes. Most anxiety and depression is diagnosed and treated in primary care. Dorothy screens, prescribes and follows up, and refers to psychiatry or therapy when a case needs more.

Do you prescribe medication for anxiety or sleep?

When the evaluation supports it, yes. Controlled medications follow Texas and federal rules, and some require an in-person visit first.

Can I do these visits by video?

Yes. Video works well for mental health follow-ups and check-ins for patients located in Texas. The first visit may need to be in person depending on the treatment being considered.

Will you refer me to a therapist?

If therapy would help, yes. We refer to therapists who accept your insurance and coordinate with them.

How much does a mental health visit cost?

$125 per visit, in person or by video, or $175 when you need a controlled substance. Medications are filled at your pharmacy through your insurance.
